Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft 1.0 | Dynasty Diehards
Update: 2023-04-01
Description
Don’t be sad that the fantasy football season is over; be glad it happened in the first place. However, if you are among the many football enthusiasts who play dynasty-format fantasy football, you know the season never truly ends. So while we might be staring down the barrel of the NFL offseason, there’s plenty to be done as a dynasty manager. Between now and the beginning of training camp is when champions are made. This week, Jon and I do a 2023 dynasty rookie mock draft of the first round, with some surprising results.
NFL News and Notes
Marvin Jones Headed Home
It was announced that Marvin Jones will be returning to Detroit, which likely will have implications for his fantasy value. His addition will, however, provide a needed veteran presence in the Detroit wide receiver room, helping Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams realize their superstar potential.
Lamar on the Move & the Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft Implications
The not-so-shocking news that Lamar Jackson requested a trade on March 2nd has fantasy owners and NFL fans alike speculating about potential landing spots for the talented quarterback. The Washington Football Team, Atlanta Falcons, and Indianapolis Colts have been floated as possible destinations for Jackson. Is Lamar on the move, or will he stay put in Baltimore?
Thursday Night Flex
The league’s announcement that teams will now be allowed to play two Thursday night games and the power to flex games to Thursday nights has sparked controversy. Many feel that this move is not in the best interest of player safety, as an additional shortened week could lead to increased injuries and fatigue for players. It remains to be seen how this new policy will affect the NFL schedule and player health in the future.
Chark to the Moon?
DJ Chark has signed with the Carolina Panthers, joining a wide receiver room that includes Adam Thielen, Terrace Marshall, and Laviska Shenault Jr. Fantasy owners are left wondering what Chark’s ceiling will be with CJ Stroud likely to be behind center. Will Chark flourish in Carolina’s offense, or will he struggle to make an impact?
Sitting Purdy in the Bay
Kyle Shanahan reiterated at league meetings this week that Brock Purdy is the guy once he’s healthy and that the Darnold signing was simply because the team doesn’t know when he’ll be ready to go. This news has led many to speculate about the future of Trey Lance, who has yet to establish himself as the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. It remains to be seen whether Lance will need a change of scenery to get another shot to start or if he will get his chance with the 49ers in the near future.
Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft
As we await the NFL Draft at the end of April, Jon and I decided to speculate on some player landing spots and do our first dynasty rookie mock draft of the season. Bijan Robinson is the consensus number-one pick in most formats, but who comes next? Is Jahmyr Gibbs next up? Is Jaxon Smith-Njigba the next Ja’marr Chase? Listen to this week’s episode to find out.
